Quiz

My last writing project is due today and I definitely have more strengths than when I first started this class. I definitely got better with my writing skills  and transitions. I believe from comparing my first writing project to my last is quite a change in progress. Definitely there still some weaknesses, but I'll work on it, I'm just glad I took English 091, because it helped me a lot. In my eyes looking at my essay I believe I deserve an A especially for the time and work I put in it. It just shows how more detailed I am and how much of a better writer I've become. Yes there still are a few flaws, but I've improved,so thank you English 091.

Here is my portfolio I know for a fact its not the best, but all I can say is I tried. I don't feel like my portfolio is what taught me all my writing skills though, you were. Mrs. Miller I want to thank you for giving us a head start and helping us through a semester of English. It helped me quite a lot, I learned different types of essays, how to become a better detailed writer, and how to support my main topics. You have helped me so much with transitions and giving detail into everything. I can actually say that I have become a better writer than the first time I walked into your class. Doing all those essay introductions, different essay formats, and every crazy writing skill was so helpful that I know I'm going to take with me for my future. All I can say is the grade you give me is the one I'll earn and I just appreciate everything you've helped me and the entire class with. You were a great teacher and I learned so much from you. Thanks for your hard pushing and just everything, I learned varies things that I will take with me for the future. Thanks Mrs. Miller.

Sincerely,
Lesly Herrera

Everyone wants to have a foreigner as a boyfriend right? Best decision I made was dating a foreigner. It's an experience, I guess you can say that's was unforgettable for me. I feel like you can take advantage of an experience like this, for the good and still have fun with it. You get to meet someone from a different culture, with different views, and learn about a different language.
First off, dating a foreigner was a great choice I made, because I got to meet someone from an opposite culture. You understand the difference of their culture then, from an American-culture. For example, it's exciting to hear them talk about what they usually do on the weekends at home, like go to discos(clubs), than in America where you go out and watch movies or go party. Also, the differences we have in cultures like different home-traditions is just so extravagant to talk about. Dating a foreigner is a major way of viewing a different culture in a fresh way.
Secondly, dating a foreigner doesn't just show you a different culture, but it lets you see a view of their life and yours. It's just as interesting as reading that favorite book you can't put down, you get to hear about their family traditions, friends, and etc. For example, listening to not just family traditions, but hearing about their junk food, and the fact that they think it's weird how we eat junk food that's been sealed in plastic wrappers. It's just so amusing to learn about a different life style. Getting to view someones life in their eyes sounds thrilling, why not try it.
Finally, getting to learn a new language, now how pleasant does that sound? Well it's quite swell to get to hear someone talk to you in a different language and be like "what the heck did he or she say." For example, learning basic words or phrases like " du bish a clown" which means "your a clown" is just exciting and a pleasure to learn. You get to learn basics in a different language and instead of doing it in a graded-class it's done in a rather amusing way. Learning someone else's language can be fun and exciting, but it's also interesting and helpful.
As you can see these are great reasons to date a foreigner. Which I strongly agree with the reasons I pursued in this essay. Dating a foreigner lets you meet someone with a different culture, different views, but also learn a different language, just remember all the fantastic things you can learn from someone by just enjoying yourself. I mean wouldn't you want to date a cute foreigner? [445,word count]

Narrative Paragraph / Final Draft

I witnessed something sad happen last week to a friend in their home. First off, Avel, Avel's mom, and I were having a discussion about life, school, and just everything happening at the moment. We were just sitting in their living room discussing every topic possible. It was just a deep converstaion we started, I always feel comfortable enough, to where I can talk to them about anything I feel the need to discuss. But then, their money struggles came up, and I felt terrible knowing I couldn't help in anyway. I could hear the sadness in their voices, them trying not to make it noticeable, while talking about the depressing topic. It just showed how much they struggle to go through just to make up for the bills they need to pay. I couldn't bare say another word or sit through this without doing anything.  Last, but not least the look in their eyes they gave off made it seem like they weren't going to make it through another week of bills. I just wish I could of helped in anyway, with anything, but I felt useless. I still hope and pray that one day in the future I can come visit Avel and help his mom out with as much as I can.

Final Draft

I believe parents should never spank their children. First, off parents spanking can lead to aggression towards children. For example, studies show how children love to imitate those they love and respect. Another example, studies show is that spanking may make them act out more in the long run. Also spanking your children can lead to fear and resentment towards people. For example, research studies have found that 40-50 percent of people, when asked how they felt when spanked, reported they "hated their parent". Another example, is that studies show how fear and resentment keep them from wanting to change their behavior and from learning how to do so. Finally, parents should not spank their children because in the end, it can lead to child abuse. For example, studies show how 85-90 percent of child abuse were attempts to discipline, but in the end got out of control. Another study shows how, spanking after anger can be likely to lead to emotional, mental and physical damage towards the child. So in the end as you see how big of an effect spanking can,be towards a child, why do it?

Triginometry

In  my Triginometry class there are three different student attitudes; lazy, attentive and totally confused. The first student attitude there is, is lazy; these students are either falling asleep or listening to their iPods. One example of a lazy student is Trenton. He always arrives last or right before the bell rings or even gets ALC sometimes for arriving late. When class starts he is either always listening to music or on his phone. When the class starts taking notes he decides not to take notes and chooses to put his head down and sleep. The second student attitude in my Triginometry class is attentive; most of the class falls into this because it's a math class and the right choice is to be attentive. One attentive student is Jade, she always arrives early to class and is in her seat before the bell rings. When Dr. Shbeer starts her lesson Jade is already set with her notebook and pens to take notes. Even when we dont have to take notes she decides it's the right choice, so she takes cornell notes. The last student attutude is totally confused; this happens to everyone at least once in a while, even Jade. An example of a totally confused student is Lupe, she comes in to class when she wants to without a care. When class sessions start, Lupe's either laughing or on her phone. She takes notes but gets distracted easily and starts talking which gets her in trouble or off task. These are three great examples of student attitudes in my Triginometry class.

Good Neighbor

A good neighbor is a person who is friendly, generous, but most importantly trustworthy. First, a good neighbor should be generous with you. For example, during holidays they'll usually bake goodies and they'll come over and drop some off at our house. Second, a good neighbor is very friendly with everyone on the block. For example, whenever they have get togethers or birthday parties they invite us over as a nice gesture. But most importantly, a good neighbor is very trustworthy. For example, if you leave out of town your able to trust your neighbors with watching your house. In my eyes a good neighbor would have to be someone that is friendly, generous, but most imporatantly trustworthy

compare and contrast paragraph

When trying out for a spring sport, badminton and volleyball are two excellent choices. Even though they both have similarities, they are different in various ways. Three differences between these sports are, sports materials, scoring, and wardrobe. The first major difference between volleyball and badminton is sports materials. For example in badminton you use rackets to hit the shuttlecock over the net. Unlike in volleyball where you use your bare arms to the ball over the net. The second difference is the way you score in a match. In order to score a point in volleyball you use ralley scoring, which means any side/team can score a point regardless of who's serving. Although, in badminton the player who is serving has the ability to score a point and possibly win the match. The last difference in volleyball and badminton is the way you dress. In badminton you have to look cute, we wear jerseys and skirt. Which allows us to move quickly through the courts and smash on our opponents. Where as in volleyball you wear black spandex and a tight jerseys which makes them arrowdinamic on and off the courts. In conclusion, when deciding whether you want to join volleyball and badminton you must consider these three major differences before engaging in these sports.

How to do luandry

To do laundry there are several steps to getting it done, easy and fast.First, separate the dirty clothes by different color tones into different clothes piles. For example, separate the white clothes from the bright clothes into a separate pile, and your denims into another. And don't forget to check the pockets for money or electronics you, do not want to find them wet. Second, make sure you have all your materials ready like your soap, fabric softener and whatever else you like to add into the washer to make your clothes smell good. Third, get water ready by figuring out if you have a large load or small load. Fourth, add the clothes, soap and fabric softener to the water, turn your washer on, and make sure to close the lid to get the washer started. Finally after the clothes is washed open the washer and transfer clothes into the dryer, but don't forget to turn your dryer on. Then once the clothes is all dry open the dryer and get to folding. Doing laundry has several steps, but this is the fast way of getting that boring chore finished.

My Sister Shannel

My sister Shannel is such an amazing mother and role model. First of all, she has two incredible children that she love's and cares for like any mother should. When she goes to the store she always gets Makai or Naveya something she'll know they'll love. For example, last time she got Naveya a lawn chair that made Naveya so happy, she carried that little blue chair everywhere she went, it was the cutest gesture ever. Even when my sister's sick and is practically dying for help and the kids aren't feeling well or are just upset they're her first priority. Secondly, Shannel is the most incredible nourishing mother I've met. She always has to make sure Makai and Naveya are healthy or eating right. Also, she loves to have family time and play with them outside with water toys she buys them or in the kiddie place outside she made for them one day. But most importantly, my sister is always there for all of us, she's not just a great mother she's a great sister, and an amazing wife. My sister never forget's about anyone, or leaves anyone behind. She is such a thoughtful mother as you can see, her children are going to be amazing kids when they're older. But, she always plays the role in all, she's always there for her husband and especially me and that's why my sister isn't just a great mother, she's that one person I admire.
